Fuel Strike Begins Sept 7 Nationwide
Related to country: Nigeria

THE Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) may commence a strike nationwide to protest the current increase in the prices of petroleum products with effect from Wednesday, September 7, authoritative sources at the meeting confirmed to Vanguard last night.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) also condemned the new prices, saying a situation whereby government refused to take the plight of the people into consideration showed that it had failed
With the strike, Labour is bound to put to test, President Olusegun Obasanjo's Trade Union Amendment Act which makes it illegal for organised labour to embark on strike on issues not related to the condition of service for workers. It also forbids labour from working with the civil society and it stipulates jail terms for violators. The NLC leadership had described the law as a " law passed in vain."

PLS GUYS I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ALL THESE................IS THE STRIKE ACTION GOING TO HELP?IS THE NLC STILL IN THE POSITION TO HOLD A STRIKE AFTER THE SUPPOSED "TRADE UNION ACT" BY THE "DICTATOR"?

HAVE WE REALLY HAD A GOOD LEADER SINCE INDEPENDENCE?

Yes we really need to ask ourselves that vital question, cos right now we say Baba Iyabo is doing this and that and sometimes i hear people say oh how i wish it was the days of this or the days of that,or some even say how i wish Buhari had won or how i wish Ojukwu had won that is not something we are to be concerned with now we need to sit down and cogitate carefully taking into cognizance all the deeds of our past leaders and see if we ever had any or if the good ones we had are still alive, you'll see that the problem with NIGERIA is NIGERIANS(no regrets saying that it's the fact)we all know these people cos our politics is being run by old faces, who greedily don't give the young and brilliant men the chance to hold high incumbency positions, well what i think is that we should stop making these old obsolete and superannuated people our leaders especially those we know gave us so much "joy" when they ruled during the military junta.Untill we face this fact and embrace change i tell u the government of this country will change to an inheritance led type where as we all know the sovereign party has to play king-maker in government positions esp.the presidency.get up stand up,stand up for ur right.
